Bali, Indonesia – Monday, 23rd July 2018: The West Sumbawa Pro in Indonesia has just been confirmed as a QS1000 Men’s and Women’s and is set to run September 8 to 12.
Blessed with a huge array of perfect waves, like most of Indonesia’s Indian Ocean facing islands, the West Sumbawa Pro joins the recently announced Nias Pro for what should be a great Indonesian run of WSL events through late August to mid September. One event remains to be confirmed to run between Nias and West Sumbawa being the Simeulue Pro in the Aceh region of Indonesia and we are working hard to confirm that event in the coming days.
Asia WSL Regional Tour Manager Steve Robertson endorsed the West Sumbawa announcement.
“WSL Asia is booming in just it’s second year as an autonomous region!
“We have seen perfect wave events at Krui on the island of Sumatra, successful CT events run at Keramas and Uluwatu on Bali, a variety of high rated events in Japan along with the spectacular specialty event, The Rip Curl Cup and Padang Padang!
“We expect to run three events between Nias and West Sumbawa. Add to this a specialty event in The Maldives next month and then the QS3000 events at Cloud 9 and Taiwan along with the World Longboard CT in Taiwan and we’re seeing the Asia Region delivering perfect waves and fantastic events.”
Watch for news in the coming week regarding the Simeulue Pro.
