A month ago, when I saw the poster of Zambapalooza on Facebook, I asked my wife if we have the budget for this event. I prayed for it for almost a week, and then someone gave me a call, a company invites me to talk about diabetes and educate patients about it. So we decided that we have the budget for this event. Well, I forgot to mention, a little background about my self. I’m a Diabetes Nurse Educator and I educate diabetes patients and their families for them to have a better management and understanding about diabetes. I teach them to engage on healthy lifestyle like proper exercise and healthy eating.I find surfing and longboarding as a fun and challenging sport. Well if you engage your self on exercise, it makes your insulin work even better thus, you’re lessening your risk of having diabetes ( for more info’s about diabetes Visit my site, www.diabetesconnect.wiredph.com).
There I was carried away, back to my topic, Zambapalooza made history for uniting board sporting competition here in the Philippines. ( wakeboarding not included 🙂 ) Board sport competitors and enthusiast from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao gathered for this event. There are also international participants from South Korea, Japan, Australia, Malaysia and the US. I joined the longboarding push race competition and this was my first competition on longboard ever. It’s like running a marathon, but the difference is, you’re riding your longboard. A challenging, tiring and a worth it experience! There were surfing competition, and skim boarding competitions too! Airsoft competition and tatoo competition were also a hit.GMA QTV channel 11 for the X-LIFE show and Solar Sports for the HOT SPOT show covered this event and they will bring you all the highlights on Zambapalooza. Reggae Mistress and other local bands plus DJ made the participants get off their tents and room to party all night and not to forget, Mr. and Ms. Zambapalooza was crowned that night. The food was overflowing and also not to forget beers and liquors sponsored by The Bar and SMB. Thumbs up for the organizers of this event! I bet next year will also be a blast.
I’ll share you stories about surfing competitions, skimboarding competition, skate competition and most of all the longboard pushrace competion on my next blog! cheers!
