Flow:SurfYogaSamba together with Lifestyle Network’s Summer Soul, Havaianas and Aura Athletica invaded the sunny shores of Boracay last April 18-21 at Boracay Terraces Resort for 4 days of Surf, Yoga and Samba plus more!

For the very first time, Flow teamed up with Paolo Soler of Philippine Surfing Academy (PSA) for a surf session at the wave pool of Crown Regency in Station 2. Surfing in a wave pool is perfect for beginners since waves are more consistent and in a controlled environment. Paolo first conducted land lessons, teaching the basics of surfing such as the parts of the surfboard, how to handle a surfboard, proper paddling and popping up. Next, participants each got a board, paddled to the line up in the wave pool and took turns catching waves. Surfing in a wave pool can get really tiring as waves come continuously but everyone was stoked nonetheless.

Bri Manglapus, a certified Rocket Yoga teacher and PSA’s resident yoga instructor, led an invigorating Vinyasa class at Boracay Terraces Resort during sunset. Participants enjoyed Nyogi Coconut Water refreshments after that challenging yoga session.

Imperatriz Filipinense (formerly known as Escola de Samba de Manila) performed live drumming and taught simple Samba dance moves to all guests at the Summer Soul Bohemian Fair and also during cocktails at Discovery Shores.

Monica Manzano, Flow’s yoga teacher, guided participants into a therapeutic sunrise Yin Yoga class at Discovery Shores beachfront. Monica stressed the importance of rest in order to be fully active as the main aim and definition of yoga is balance, after all. Since it was a beach yoga class, some students even used their Lagu beach blankets as yoga mats!

One afternoon, Alessa Lanot, DIY queen of Life After Breakfast blog, taught everyone how to make rubberstamps at our Crafternoon workshop paired with happy hour cocktails at Two Seasons.

The Flow team conducted a Green Smoothie and Live Foods workshop at the Summer Soul Bohemian Fair using healthy ingredients such as Moringana malunggay capsules in recipes as well as the trusty Breville power blender which was used to make green smoothies. Lifestyle Network host, Wally De Mesa, interviewed Denise, Monica and Noelle on-stage asking about the benefits of drinking green smoothies and eating live foods.

Aside from participating in these awesome activities, everyone received a reusable canvas bag packed with goodies from Havaianas, Moringana, Travel Magazine, Turista Magazine, gift certificates from Browhaus, Strip, Beyond Yoga, Sunshine Kitchen, Rawlicious and a premium prize from Panda Sunglasses was raffled off to one lucky participant!

April 6-7, 2013, San Juan, La Union, Philippines: The La Union Surf Club and the STOKEDinc-La Union Surf School, gave free surf lessons to over 300 super-stoked Filipinos and foreigners in the 1st Surfing Philippines GoSurPH Weekend. It was a fun filled weekend celebration as surfers from Manila and neighboring provinces gathered to celebrate good vibes and stoke for the first ever event of SurfingPhilippines.

Everyone is excited to paddle out and ride the waves of San Juan La Union.

The 2-day event kicked-off with a Land Rover roadtrip from Manila to La Union Philippines’ Surfing Capital. Surf lessons were provided all throughout the day and at night, rock and acoustic jam with a twist of house DJ’s at the  Kahuna Beach Resort & Spa fueled the crowd and boosting the night party in La Union until the crack of dawn.

A motorcade of 10 vehicles from The Land Rover Club of the Philippines (LRCP), headed by Robby Consunji, transported surfboards on the 260-kilometer trip from Manila to the northern province of La Union.

Land Rover Defenders, Discoveries, & Range Rovers with surfboards on their racks made many stop in their tracks and take notice. Even Land Rover Philippines big boss Marc Soong joined the La Union expedition and beach party.

Aside from all the parties and festivities, the free surf lessons were definitely the main draw of the weekend. “We were amped with the immense response to the GoSurPH weekend of free surf lessons,” says Gerard Sison, founder and president of Surfing Philippines, the go-to comprehensive website for surfing in our country. “This huge interest gives you a clear indication that Pinoys are keen to try surfing. The modern young Filipino,” Gerard Sison added.

Surfing Philippines is the lead organiser of the catchy-named GoSurPH campaign (PH is the country code internet domain name of the Philippines). Over 200 people signed up on its website surfingphilippines.com, immediately upon announcement of the GoSurPH event. Out of a social media push quietly promoting free surf lessons, the GoSurPH campaign went viral.

“Surfing Philippines” GoSurPH main task is to try to raise funds from interested partners which will be used to pay the local surf club to run the surf lessons and rent their surfboards. Should we accomplish that, a GoSurPH weekend is born,” says Joncy Sumulong, Campaign Director of GoSurPH.

Given how easy it is to activate, more companies sponsoring a GoSurPH weekend campaign translates to many more occasions and surf spots where the awesome event can be held. And this is where partners such as STOKEDinc, the Philippines pioneer action sports company come into the picture.

“Gerard approached me to help sponsor the first national GoSurPH weekend,” says STOKEDinc Managing Director JV Borromeo,” and Mr. Borromeo was honored to be onboard. GoSurPH is a concept that’s perfect because of its simplicity. Give people surf lessons for free. “Companies who sponsor the event subsidise those free surf lessons. And the sponsorship funds go directly into hiring the local surf club.” JV Borromeo continues, “the local community are the experts and the best surf ambassadors after all. And with that special human interaction that is so unique to surfing, everybody has an unforgettable time. It’s a great advocacy.”

 It was a weekend full of good vibes as Surfing Philippines,  the go-to comprehensive website for surfing in this 7,107 island archipelago will continue it’s GoSurPH campaign, to spread the stoke of surfing in the Philippines.

10 May 2013, Jakarta – Indonesia: Quiksilver, in partnership with Royal Sporting House, have opened their latest Quiksilver store on the 28th March 2013 at Tampines Mall. This is Quiksilver’s first store to be opened in the east of Singapore.

Located on the 2nd floor of Singapore’s leading suburban mall, the new Quiksilver store is stocked with a complete range of Quiksilver, Roxy and DC Shoes apparel and accessories.

“We are excited to be opening up a new store in Tampines Mall with Royal Sporting House. Quiksilver, Roxy and DC are gaining strong traction in Singapore and it is positive to see the brands branching out into suburban areas where a large percentage of our target market resides,” said Quiksilver Marketing Executive, Sammy Gosling.
