As we crave for a shoulder to head high surfable waves in Eastern Samar during the 8th Odyssey event, PSA head coach Paolo Soler together with Quiksilver Surf School Philippines head coach Lui Tortuya and the rest of the company decided to go to General MacArthur, an hour drive from Guiuan to surf at Matarinao Bay.

Some beach sites of Eastern Samar such as Salcedo’s Matarinao, Asgad, Jagnaya,
Alog, Bua Bua have big waves for surfing. However, I observed that these are on
high tides specially with strong winds. Being in the Pacific Coastline, there are good
spots but these are not yet explored. Some has to be prepared for Surfers because of
hard Corals. It is however very interesting also for Snorkelers and Scuba Divers.
Organizing events participated in by both Surfers and Underwater Sports enthusiasts
must be more fun in Eastern Samar. Non Surfers and Non-Divers Companions can
enjoy Boating, Fishing (Hook & Line) at Matarinao Bay or just Trekking at Salcedo’s
Rainforest. More Info: Google: Jagnaya Beach, Eastern Samar by Lakas ng Trip and Noelizm’s Blog “Salcedo’s Locsoon Cave and Jagnaya Beach”.
Auraphil thanks for this!
