After over a year of hard work and positive growth, Skateistan Cambodia is proud to announce the opening of our very own covered skateboard facility in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Skateistan Cambodia has been in operation since March 2011. Until now, Skateistan Cambodia had been providing
mobile skateboarding sessions for a number of partner organizations including Friends International, Pour un Sourire D’Enfant (PSE), and Tiny Toones. Skateistan began in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2007 and is now an international NGO providing skateboarding and educational programming in Afghanistan, Cambodia and Pakistan. Skateistan is non-political, independent, and inclusive of all ethnicities, religions and social backgrounds, with a focus on programs for girls and streetworking youth.
An official opening event for the facility will be held on September 28th, 2012 between 3 and 5 pm. A number of Skateistan’s staff and students will be present to show off their skills in the park, as well as their musical abilities as they complete a DJ camp with our new partner organization, Turning Tables. All representatives of the media are welcome to attend.
