Penang 6th International Skimboarding Competition 2012 is on!

Penang 6^th International Skimboarding Competition 2012 is an annual state event of Penang headed by Y.B. Puan Lydia Ong Kok Fooi (Youth & Sports, Women, Family & Community Development) and supported by the Municipal Council of Penang Island (Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang) and the Penang Sports Council (Majlis Sukan Negeri Pulau Pinang) and this event is organised by Persatuan Skimboarding Pulau Pinang (Penang Skimboarding Association) and Kelab Skimboarding Bersatu (United Skimboarding Club). This will be the sixth year the event is held on the island.

This year will be the first year this event is held for 2 days. The event info is as follow:

Venue: Naza Talyya Hotel (Beach front)

Date: 15^th & 16^th September, 2012

Here’s the event schedule

This year we have 11 sponsors altogether where Quiksilver Malaysia is the main sponsor for this event. And this will also be the first time we are having Stand Up Paddle and Surf Race organised by Oxbold slotted into our schedule as a secondary contest during the afternoons for both days.

The entry fee for skimboarding competition is RM40 per person and for stand up paddle and surf race the entry fee is RM20 per person. The categories for skimboarding competition is as follow, 12 years and below, 13 years to 17 years, 18 years to 28 years, 29 years and above, Women’s open.

As for stand up paddle and surf race the category is open to all. The race is basically an introductory race for the sport to the people of Penang.

Penang 6^th International Skimboarding Competition 2012 attracts participating skimboarding athletes from Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Holland and the United States.
